   Further inquiries have learned that AB 1025  failed to pass.  Biggest reason is because of the additional cost to the State to maintain a file for Adoptee Affidavits/hiring another employee...which was part of the Bill. 

and the costs involved to prosecute a violator would have been phenomenal. They are in it to make money searching...not go in the hole. Wi already has a big deficit!!

So independent searching is not illegal and penalities do not exist.  AB 1025 would have to be reintroduced to be considered again in year 2007.

Lets hope that the next Bill Wi brings forth is OPEN RECORDS!

	Hi Mary, Do you help adoptees find more info than the non-identifying info provided by an agency? I was adopted through Catholic Social Services in Milwaukee. The original social worker handling my search request was caring and concerned and quickly located my birth mother. He retired shortly after and my case is now with someone who has little time for me and basically has only taken the time to send an un-itemized bill (is that typical?). In any case, I now have social history, am not sure if I'd like to meet my birth mother, but want more medical information. My birth mother supposedly told the original social worker that she has cancer. It would seem that medical information like that should be disclosed to me, but it hasn't been. Any direction you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you, Lynn

	hi Mary, i think a few years ago you had helped me find my son that i had given up for adoption. I have your last name i think does it start with a W? i didnt have the money last time to further my search but this time i do and really want to find him.
